The love of fine food has always been a part of my family. My grandfather’s grocery store fed a neighbourhood, while my grandmother’s joy was entertaining dinner guests. Feeding people was an important part of my family life, so it was no surprise to anyone when I married a chef.
My Mother-In-Law taught me the art of preserving in the early 2000’s, and I began to experiment with recipes to make them my own.
Bit by bit, our little jam company grew until we moved it out of our home and into a commercial jam kitchen. Since then, I’ve been able to share my love of canning with jam aficionados in B.C and across the country.
While we’ve outgrown my family’s kitchen, Saltspring Kitchen is still very much a family affair. Our small team ensures we produce the highest quality product. But living the west coast lifestyle means we also take time to enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds us and inspires us: hiking in the woods, swimming in the ocean, relaxing on the beach, gazing at the view from a mountain… these moments are what Island life is all about, and there’s some of that wildness and freshness in every spoonful of our jams.We love the idea that everyone deserves a little bit of Salt Spring Island. We hope to take you there through the love of our preserves.
